To apply for a Post Study Work Visa in New Zealand, you must have recently completed your studies in New Zealand. This visa lets you live and work in the country for a period of not more than three years. Nevertheless, the period allowed will depend on what the applicant studied and for how long.
With the New Zealand Post-Study Work Visa:
- You can work for any employer in New Zealand in any occupation as long as you have a degree (level 7) or higher.
- If you have a non-degree (level 7) or lower, you must be employed in an area that is relevant to your field of study. Your degree must also be on the list of degrees that qualify for a NZ post-study work visa.
It is to be noted that a NZ PSW visa can only be requested once.
What if I submitted a request for a student visa on or before May 11, 2022?
If so, you may be able to obtain a NZ PSW, which functions in New Zealand like an open work permit. Even if your degree or certification is not listed among those required for a PSW visa, you are still permitted to work there. Additionally, you must possess an approved degree or certification.
